About Us

About the Princeton Historical Commission

The Princeton Historical Commission is charted by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for "the preservation, protection and development of the historical or archeological assets" of the Town. We are responsible for researching places of historic or archeological value and cooperation with the state agencies for that purpose.

Our primary goal is to identify and research places within Princeton to be recommended for inclusion in the National Register of Public Places, a program of the National Park Service. By observing, describing, and seeking to understand the structures that previous generations have left behind, we come to understand the history they reveal and the people who created them.

We are eager to work with all Princeton residents to share the knowledge we gain and encourage a greater appreciation of the heritage we share.
