Princeton Historical Commission November 18, 2021

Attendees: Matthew Lindberg - chair, Carl Soderberg - vice chair Larry Todd - clerk,  Tom Kokernak

The meeting opened at 7:01 pm.

The meeting minutes for 10/21/21 were approved as written.

Matt reported we have $6529 in our donations account and $5492 left in our regular account. The balance left to pay for the carving of the plaques is $5750. At this time we are close to having the needed funds to complete the project, including the $2500 cost for installation, but we should still accept donations.

Civil War Plaques: Larry gave a brief update. He and Tom have reviewed the initial proof of the plaques and are waiting for the corrections to be made.

Meeting House Cemetery: Matt and Lynne agree the stone fragments should be put in the tomb for storage but it is not clear who will brick up the tomb.

Regarding the question of possible repair to the stone wall on the left side in front of the cemetery, Tom looked at it and thought the stone looks like remnants left over time and are part of the natural landscape. Larry had also looked at it and agreed.

TaMara spoke with Matt about her restoration work. She said there is a little left to do and she should have a final report next week.

Lynne also told Matt some trees need to be removed and asked our opinion of adding a flag pole with lighting. After discussion a motion was made and approved unanimously that given the history of Meetinghouse cemetery the flap pole and lighting is inappropriate.

Town Pound Sign: The sign is up. There was discussion about future maintenance of the site and path which may involve removing some smaller stumps. Carl will get a quote from Nate for the work.

Public Safety Building Committee:  Carl gave a detailed update. At this stage the architects will go back and revise their plans based on cost cutting suggestions from the group. Carl said there were 4 areas they are looking at which can impact cost. He shared a presentation from 11/15/21 and said there will be public outreach when more information is available. He did suggest there should be a charrette session with local design professionals to get their input. All the meetings of the public safety group are open to the public and can be joined on the internet.

Our next meeting will be held remotely on Thursday, December 16 at 7pm

The meeting was adjourned at 8:03 pm.

.Respectfully submitted,

Larry Todd, clerk
