 Princeton Historical Commission
October 21, 2021

Attendees: Matthew Lindberg - chair, Larry Todd - clerk,  Joyce Anderson, Tom Kokernak

The meeting opened at 7:06 pm.

The meeting minutes for 9/16/21 were approved as written.

Civil War Plaques: Larry gave an update. The  formal contract for the work has been signed by Leominster Monument. Larry will follow up on the status of the work. The next step is to review and approve all the copy to be carved on each plaque.

There have been no further donations. Matt will check on the total to date.

Meeting House Cemetery: Matt has not heard from TaMara and will contact her for the status of the work. She has not submitted an invoice. Matt will follow up with Lynne about the town tombs.

Town Pound Sign: Tom offered to work with Doug to get the sign up and made a date to work on it tomorrow morning, 10/22. Matt emailed Karen Cruise and the permit was approved.

Public Safety Building Committee:  No update at this time because Carl is not present.

Veterans’ Memorial Bench: the area around the bench (on the town common) looks much better since the Wachusetts Garden Club, with our permission, replaced many of the old plants and flowers.

Four Corners: Neil Sulmasy gave Matt several totes of paperwork related to the effort made to save the land at four corners (Gates, Thompson, and Old Colony roads) from development. Larry expressed an interest in looking at the material and his son-in-law, Steve Stimson, may also have an interest as he was part of the group working to save the land.

New Business:

Joyce mentioned previously her concern that part of the stone wall on the East side of Meetinghouse cemetery is in disrepair and should be rebuilt. After discussion Matt suggested we contact Lynne who is the chair of the cemetery commission and let her know of the concern expressed by Joyce. Tom will take some pictures.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 pm.

The next meeting will be held remotely on Thursday, November 18 at 7pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Larry Todd, clerk
