Charge to the Thomas Prince Middle School Enrollment Study Committee

Committee make up – Seven at large community members with a preponderance of membership consisting of residents with children currently entering grades K – 2. It is perceived that these residents will be affected most by the decisions this committee makes.

Support to the Committee – Mary Cringan, Principal, John Lebeaux, TA, 1 School Committee member.

The purpose of this committee is to investigate the different alternatives available or strategies to be developed in order to respond to the declining enrollment situation at Thomas Prince Middle School. The committee will report to the Select Board its finding of the different alternatives including the positive and negative effects of each strategy or alternative. Their conclusions will allow the Select Board the comprehensive understanding necessary to make a decision on the Town’s response to the situation.

All meetings of the committee are public. The product of the committee will be at least one public hearing at a publicized meeting. The purpose of the public hearing is to hear input from school officials and Princeton school parents and residents. The committee may meet with the Select Board from time to time for the purpose of updating the Board or to seek guidance in the direction of the project. The last meeting of the committee will be a presentation of the findings to the Select Board.

This committee will commence work around 1 September 2010 and wrap up their findings in a report to the select board no later than 1 May 2011. At that time the committee members will be discharged of their responsibilities.
