Princeton Earth Month Cleanup - Safety
GUIDELINES FOR A SAFE, PRODUCTIVE CLEAN-UP
- Make sure to follow COVID19 rules about masks, ‘social distancing’ and hand washing!
- Wear colorful clothing or vests to make sure you are seen by vehicles on the road. Reflective Vests are highly recommended for busy roads, and we can provide them if needed.
- Wear long pants and long sleeves, and gloves
- Use trash bags or reusable buckets to collect trash
- Stay safe and aware of your location in relation to streets and traffic. Choose times of lower traffic
- Where possible, work with a partner, or ideally several partners
- Check for ticks during and after each collection
- Watch out for vines in guard rails and trees it may be poison ivy -the leaves are not yet out
- Do not pick up or touch any needles or syringes (sharps), used or unused. Contact the Fire Department (firechief@town.princeton.ma.us) and they will go get them safely.
- If you come across a heavy item (i.e. furniture, mattress, tires), contact us and we will work to get them removed.
- Dispose of trash through normal trash pickups. If you need a place to bring bags, there will be a dumpsters available during the month of April. These are for trash collected on Princeton roads, trails, and parks only!
- The health and safety of all volunteers is a priority. Note that all cleanup is done at participants’ own risk, and it’s important to be careful on any roadway.
And please note: Participants in the Earth Month Cleanup do so voluntarily and at their own risk, and assume any and all risk of injury of any kind
