Mass Audubon Wachusett Meadow

Wach Meadow

Wachusett Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary, a former historic farmstead now owned by The Massachusetts Audubon Society, offers spectacular scenery and supports abundant wildlife throughout woodlands, wetlands, and meadows. Historic buildings and barns are still in use for educational programming and resident sheep graze pastures. Twelve Miles of trails traverse many landscape features including Brown Hill Summit, Glacial Boulder, ancient trees, and beaver ponds.  In addition, the Midstate Trail runs through the sanctuary on its way from Wachusett Mountain to west Princeton.

Several hikes are documented for Wachusett Meadow. Including a North Hike, which features walks through the fields to the Glacial Boulder, Brown Hill, and  Otter Pond.aA South Hike loop travels down by the meadow, out to South Wachusett Brook and the pastures. Additional spurs can be added to visit a beaver pond near the end of the West Loop, or to the Brook Loop Trail (the brook may not be crossable in the winter).
