ROAD ADVISORY COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes, Nov. 3 2021 6:00 PM

Administrative: Unanimous vote to approve of minutes of 9/16/2021 meeting..
Project Status UpdateHighway Supt. Ben Metcalf reported:
- Coal Kiln Road culverts: construction is underway. The first culvert is the most involved and requires water diversion. Expected removal is this week and backfill to above the water level installed in preparation for paving next week. The second 2 culverts will not require water diversion and should require 1.5 weeks to complete.
- Coal Kiln Road: 2 botanists will finish wet land delineation next week. Draft specifications are 90% complete.
General discussion of engineering work to pave the road. - Ball Hill culvert: CEI (Matt Lundgren) has not responded with estimates.
Engineering for Worcester Road: proposals are due 12/2/2021!
General discussion of using square yards versus linear feet in RFPs to more accurately represent the size of a job where the resulting road surface is not a consistent width.
Budgetary Review Copy of Version 39.00 081820.xls, a spreadsheet of road projects, costs, funds, etc.
TO DO: Al Pearson and Ben Metcalf will work with Town Accountant Jenny Lin to update the spreadsheet.
Sherry: BoS is seeking a 3% reduction in funding for FY 2022. Can we make up for the expected cuts with grants. For example, Worcester Road: apply to MassWorks for engineering, Complete Streets for construction.
General discussion of book jobs (mill and resurface) and whether the town does them itself.
Budgets are due 12/2.
TO DO: Ben will get Princeton’s balance of Chapter 90 funds from MassDoT for the spreadsheet update.
