March and April News from Wachusett Watershed Regional Recycling Center

Subbmitted by the Recycling Center

We wanted to send you some updates regarding the Center.  Please feel free to post on your websites and/or share with the residents of your towns.   We'll continue to update our social media and send out more information on preparing material for HHP days.

1.  The Recycle Center will be closed to the public on Tuesday, March 23rd and Thursday, March 25th. We will be working on a few reorganizing projects during the week that we hope will make our jobs go more smoothly.

When we reopen on March 30th, we will start our Spring/Summer Hours which are:

Tuesdays 9-11 AM

Thursdays 4-6 PM

First and Third Saturday of each month 9AM until noon.

2. We have 3 Document Shredding Days scheduled for 2021. Residents can bring 2 boxes for free and after that the fee is $2 per box. All are Saturdays from 9AM to noon.

April 17

June 19

October 16

3. We have 2 Household Hazardous Waste Days scheduled for 2021. We are adding extra Saturdays with extended hours in April and November so we can have ONLY household hazardous waste drop off happening on those days. The rest of the site will be closed for any other drop off or pick up. There are a few changes to our procedures and fees and we'll be sending information and reminders out regularly. Hours will be 9AM to 1PM.

April 24

November 13

We are now charging by car load vs can by can. By eliminating the handling of items, the process will be safer for our volunteers and should make it run a bit faster. The vendor will be assisting us with the check in process as well. Items need to be in the trunk/back of the vehicle and in containers that will not be returned.

Fees:

Minimum fee - up to 3 gallons/pounds $20

Half Load - >3 to 10 gallons/pounds $40

Full Load >10 to 25 gallons/pounds $70

I'll be sending more information on how residents should pack, what they should and should not bring and where else they can bring their hazardous waste should these dates not be convenient for them. Should you have any questions on this or anything else in the meantime please contact me or the Center.

Thank you!
