EAC Winter 2024 Green News Brief: “Considering Our Community: DARK SKIES AWARENESS"

Looking at a starry night often inspires a sense of wonder about the universe and our place in it. But, for many, seeing the stars clearly is becoming more difficult due to light pollution. While outdoor lighting has certain benefits, it can also negatively impact human and animal health, as well as waste energy and money.  Princeton is one of the few local communities where stars are still visible at night, but keeping it that way will require the thought and action of the community. Read the EAC's latest Green News Brief to learn more about a WPI study on dark skies and light pollution in Princeton; celebrating our dark skies; and what you can do to reduce the impact of your outdoor lighting! And join the EAC on February 3, 2024 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Krashes Fields for Night Sky Fest 2024!

(Special thanks to EAC members Gerry Pellegrini, Kaitlin Kohberger, and Claire Golding for their efforts on this GNB Issue.)
