From the Clerk's Office: Clarification on election officers and services provided by this office

Dear residents, you may have received the local paper with an article introducing the town clerk. This posting is to clarify a couple typos and serves as an opportunity to share that the Town Clerk’s Office is experiencing a shortage in election officers for 2024. We encourage eligible Princeton residents and any registered voter in Massachusetts to apply.

Who can serve as election officer? A registered voter from any town or city of Massachusetts may work as an election officer in Princeton after application, interview, and appointment. Massachusetts state election law allows residents as young as sixteen or seventeen years old, whom meet the requirements as listed in MGL Chapter 54, Section 12, to serve as election officers.

Election officers are assigned various duties on election day: some officers may work at check-in/check out, others may assist voters with inserting ballots into the ballot box, count ballots, or work in higher responsibility roles as election clerk and election warden.

Election Officers are Leaders in Civic Engagement, Integrity and Stewardship. If you are interested in learning more, click the link below to view the brochure and application.
