Discussion regarding Complete Streets Project to submit for Tier 3 funding. Applications due May 1st.

The following projects were chosen for submission for funding:

Project # 30        Brook Station & Ball Hill Road

This project will install a left-side stop sign and a "Stop Ahead" sign (W3-1) on the Brooks Station Road southbound approach and adding crosswalks across all four legs of the intersection. Curb ramps will be constructed on either end of each crosswalk. Sidewalk will be constructed from the southwest corner of the intersection to the entrance of the cemetery.

Est. Cost:  $70,000

Note:  Curb cuts to be removed from this project.

Project # 27        Ball Hill Road

This project will add a white edge line to either side of the road to make it 18 feet wide, slowing traffic and creating a marked shoulder for bikes. Crosswalks will be added at the intersection with Calamint Road with curb ramps at either end. Transverse warning pavement markings will be added on the Ball Hill Road approaches to the crosswalk. Two speed feedback signs will also be installed.

Est. Cost:  $230,000

Note:  Curb Cuts to be removed from this project.

Project # 42        Hubbardston Road @Goodnow

This project will restrict traffic to one-way on either side of the median, creating a safer approach and turn maneuvers. Crosswalks will also be added across Goodnow Road and Hubbardston Road on the south leg of the intersection with accompanying curb ramps, for connection to future sidewalks.

Est. Cost:  $70-$80K

Project #45         Hubbardston Road @ Radford/Allen Hill Road

This project would remove protruding vegetation that impedes sight lines at the Radford Road northbound approach and install intersection warning signage.

Est. Cost:  $50K

Project #23         Mirick Road

Note:  Hold for future discussion and cost estimate.

Project # 38        Mountain Road

Note:  Hold for future discussion.  Safety issue/high speed.

Voted unanimously by those attending to recommend that the board apply for the projects as noted above.

The above projects will be recommended to the Selectboard at their next meeting on 4/20.

Ben Metcalf discussed an email received from District 3 regarding funding for “book jobs” for milling and paving state numbered roads.  Rt. 31, Rt. 62 and Rt. 140.  Potential funding source for Rt 31 Worcester Road, Holden to Town Center.

Meeting adjourned at 7:34 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Sherry Patch, Town Administrator
