Waste & Recycling Committee
The Committee shall examine the Save Money and Reduce Trash (SMART) options and weigh their viability in the Town of Princeton. They shall study the impacts both SMART and curbside may have on Princeton and its residents. The Committee shall formulate strategies and recommendations for mitigating the impacts of changing the current system. Committee members shall research and design an outreach program that will educate the citizens on the solid waster options available. They will incorporate suggestions and information from the community into their final recommendation. They will take into consideration the following issues when making their final recommendation to the Board of Health on the deadline as determined by the Board.
- Convenience to the taxpayer/resident
- Education of taxpayer/resident
- Cost to taxpayer/resident
- Increase in recycling efforts
- Reduction of tonnage
- Environmental impacts
- Prevention of illegal dumping
- Less waste
- Increase recycling
The committee will comprise seven members, appointed by the Selectboard, that consists of one person each from the Selectboard, Town Administrator, Board of Health, Advisory Committee, Environmental Action Committee and two residents. The term of the committee is one year.
