Public Safety Building Doesn't Make Congressman McGovern's Final List of Ten Projects

We were informed by Congressman Jim McGovern's office that the Congressman submitted his FY22 Community Project Funding requests and Princeton’s public safety complex project was not included among his final list of ten requests.

"He reviewed over fifty project requests from across the district and unfortunately he had to make some really difficult decisions. Going forward, he is committed to identifying and strongly advocating for potential competitive federal opportunities. As you know, the American Jobs Plan proposes major funding increases for infrastructure – including water & sewer projects, community infrastructure, broadband, etc. – and the Congressman would like to make sure communities in Massachusetts receive their fair share.

In the meantime, we understand that Treasury (through the Commonwealth) will begin issuing direct municipal assistance under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) on May 10th. Treasury will also issue guidance on eligible spending at that time and we’ll share information as soon as we have it. We understand that there will be much more flexibility under ARP than the CARES Act."

Thanks to all of our residents who contacted Congressman McGovern's office to lobby for his support of our project. We knew that this was a long shot but it was worth trying. The Town Administrator and Selectboard will continue to seek assistance in funding this and other town needs.
