TOWN of PRINCETON, Mass. - CONSERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES

Note: this public meeting and public hearing were conducted via remote teleconferencing due to COVID-19 precautions.  Public participation details were posted with the agenda.

Members in attendance remotely:  Brian Keevan, Rachael Catlow, Victoria Taft, Bonnie Hirsh, Barbara Laughlin. No other participants.

Brian Keevan called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM.

Votes taken in the following actions are “all in favor” unless noted otherwise.

Approve Minutes  - Minutes from April 1, 2021 meeting were approved by Bonnie, Brian, Rachael, and Victoria with minor edits at 7:09pm.

Item 1: 7:10pm pm – 7:12pm – 93 Main Street Update – Brian forwarded the correspondence to the new owner.  Brian will follow up soon to schedule a site visit and next steps.

Item 2: 7:12 pm – 7:16 pm – 264 Mirick Update - Brian traded email correspondence with Bill Eicholzer who stated he is planning on removing the culvert.  The Commission will schedule a site walk to view the site and discuss a plan to safely remove the culvert.  Bonnie will be the primary contact for this project.

Item 3: 7:16 pm -7:16 pm - Four corners site walk – Tentatively scheduled for May 8th.  A new kiosk sign is still being worked on by Rick Gardner.

Commission Other Business, Mail, Procedures, etc.:

Matt Charpentier, a Princeton resident and field botanist discussed potentially conducting a Natural Resource Inventory in Princeton to document rare or endangered species.  He discussed potentially identifying species on conservation lands first.  He will potentially join the Commission on the Four Corners site walk on May 8th to assist with species identification.  The discussion was more informative than action oriented.

Delegation of duties – Rachael will work with Victoria on updating the NOI/COC spreadsheet.

The following projects have been assigned primary contacts: Country Lane – Rachael, 264 Mirick – Bonnie, Stagecoach – Victoria, Pine Hill Lot 3 and 4 - Bonnie, Route 140 Invasive Species – Brian, Sam Cobb – Victoria, Merriam Road – Brian, Brooks Station Road septic -Brian

Misc projects – 140, Ben Whittaker – Calamint Hill.

Cemetery project update – The Commission received a plant list from the cemetery project and will let the cemetery commission know that there are no issues with the listing.
