Parks and Recreation would like to thank everyone that had a hand in Princetonfest yesterday. Unfortunately, I forgot to contact Mother Nature and request the sun- of all things to forget!
Despite the miserable weather most everyone was able to show up.The 20 + craft & business vendors lined the edge of Krashes Field 1 while Jeff from MA Sports Leagues did his best to run the Bubble Soccer in the wet grass with some of the younger attendees. Please see the attached photos.
Princetonfest was a rain or shine event, but due to the constant rain & wind we had to close it down around noon. The hardwork & dedication that everyone puts into their crafts & displays was not worth them getting ruined from the elements.
Parks & Recreation has already started brainstorming Princetonfest2. We would like to invite all of the vendors that registered for this year back next year FREE OF CHARGE. One of the reasons P&R kept the vendor registration fee low (Princeton vendor $15 & out of town $25) was because we understand when an event is held outside weather plays a huge part. For P&R it wasn't about making money, but to offer a community event for all ages. All money collected helped pay for the costs associated with the planning.
Thank you to all of the craft & business vendors, Princeton Municipal Light Ddepartment & the Princeton Police Department, Princeton Public Library volunteers, Friends of the Library, and my dedicated Commission members who all helped make Princetonfest come together. A lot of rain won't stop us from doing it again!!
On another note-
The Krashes Field playground will be installed this Friday October 6th at 8:30a.m. P&R is in need of more volunteers for the build. Any time at all would be appreciated. We hope to have the cement poured by 3:00p.m. that same day. P&R asks that after the any play on the structure be prohibited until there is an email announcement and put on the Recreation town website. If any volunteers have a couple wheelbarrows and shovels we can borrow for the cement that would be great.
The build would not be possible without the help from our DPW and PMLD. The DPW will be excavating the site and PMLD is helping auger the holes for the footings. The donation of the time, staff & equipment from both departments is hugely appreciated and will be recognized with a name plate on the structure. Also, thank you to the Wachusett Football & Cheer for their generous monetary donation to help with the additional expenses you too will also be recognized on the structure .Also, like to thank Jack Dower for helping me with the ordering of the cement through Sterling Concrete.
Lastly, please see the attached Scarecrow Contest Entry Form & Rules for those interested.
As always- please feel free to contact me with any questions and/ or comments.
